About

My Aspirational Self

34 year old married woman, mother of two boys (newborn and a 3 year old), working on year long life correction before she hits 35.    Specifically, losing weight (45 pounds)  is top on the agenda – followed by training for a triathlon, keeping her house in order, finding and embracing consistency in daily activities, eliminating bad habits (go away Perez Hilton.com), writing most days of the week, and simply doing what I say I will do.  In essence, I would like to feel good about myself.

Quirky, Interesting and Boring things about myself:

– I like gossip websites way too much.  I have a crazy procrastination website cycle that includes: perezhilton.com, radaronline, tmz, socialite life and dlisted.  Yea, I need help.

-To continue on with my high brow interests I also watch way too much reality television.  To assist my crack  reality addiction, my husband has conveniently preprogrammed the television to BRAVO as the start channel.    And I wish my reality habit was quality reality (i.e. Dirty Jobs or Deadliest Catch), but NOOO….  I have seen (and seriously, I am ashamed by this) probably every Housewives of NJ, New York, Atlanta, OC, and now, D.C.

-I was a black belt first degree in Tae Kwon Do around the age of 12.  There is some woman out there with scars on the inside of her mouth because of me…  She was wearing braces, no guard and I kicked her in mouth.  Hey, in sparring the head gets two points!

-I quit our Nationally ranked (yes, think ESPN and Bring It On) dance squad to be in a play (You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown) and jazz band.

-I went to band camp – for multiple summers.  I played the flute:)

-I wasn’t popular in high school (see above).

-In college, I weighed 115-120.  Way too thin and VERY unhealthy.

-Trying to teach my children about manners and responsibility.  I fear raising “entitled” children.

-I don’t cook – my husband does.

-I love Diet Coke and I know it is a forbidden love (DK is not good…).  Quitting smoking was much easier than quitting Diet Coke.   I still drink it (this is something I am working on).

-I am not sporty.

– I have a fabulous job that I adore – and one that others want.  I don’t want to screw that up with this blog – so I won’t be talking about my job, projects, or my colleagues.

Good luck on your journey…I know that we can both reach our goals by our 35th birthday!

I love your blog! I agree about the Diet Coke. I quit smoking and while it was hard, the time I quit Diet Coke was MUCH harder. What kind of crack do they put in it?

I love Bravo and gossip sites, also! 🙂

Sounds like me! Gossip websites and trashy reality TV are such guilty pleasures or mine. And I went to band camp for 3 summers – I played the cello, though. I used to adore Diet Coke with a squeeze of lime but haven’t had more than a sip in years. (I actually really do love plain, cold water).

Best of luck! I know you can reach your goal and I’m looking forward to following along. 🙂

If only I had only a sip or two in years… I envy you and the ability to play the cello.

We never had pop in our house growing up. Milk or water with meals, only! I think that helped a lot. My love of Diet Coke kicked in when I was a waitress and got free fountain drinks whenever I wanted. Once I stopped that, it was relatively easy to stop drinking it altogether.

There isn’t much to envy anymore! I played from when I was 11-16 or so. It’s been over 10 years since I’ve played, now. I doubt I’d be much good anymore!

I just found your blog…we have a lot in common! I am also 34 going on about 100, I wasn’t popular in high school, and I fear that despite my best efforts my daughter already has a sense of entitlement at 5-years-old.

    Love your sense of humor!

      Thanks!
I feel like I have 35 for the last ten years – so now that I am turning 35 (and the wrinkles are coming out in full force) I keep looking in mailbox for the AARP membership form:)
